Consolidated Works is a multi-disciplinary contemporary arts center actively developing and presenting work by artists engaged in the exploration of performance, visual art, film, music and other disciplines. Consolidated Works uses its programs and facilities to encourage artists, audiences and community partners in the process of multi-disciplinary discovery.
Founded in the heart of Seattle in 1998, Consolidated Works’ inhabits a unique place on the artistic spectrum. We produce and present vivid, cutting edge work by local, international, emerging and established artists. Our physical resources include a 150-seat performance space, a 50-seat cinema, a 4,500sqft gallery, a bar/café, resident artist spaces, and property storage. Consolidated Works’ programs include AccessWorks, which supplies affordable administrative and event support to related arts organizations.
This description is featured on the NYFA Classifieds and was posted on May 2, 2005. This same position was posted on the Artist Trust web site lacking the previous description. It references the Conworks web-site for more information, but none is available on the poorly maintained web presence. Use IE to view Conworks.org as the web designers are to lazy to make it cross-platform compliant.
What the Board Wants
The Role of the Artistic Director
Consolidated Works seeks an Artistic Director to lead the artistic vision and programming for the organization. This is an opportunity to lead a bold emerging contemporary arts center at a formative time in its growth.
"Formative time in its growth" is a speech code for; we have alienated the entire creative community in Seattle and are out of ideas
The Artistic Director will:
Set and articulate the artistic vision for Consolidated Works’ and its arts programs.
This means that the board does not have any idea of what they are doing.
Work with the Consolidated Works staff to help achieve mission and program objectives.
The staff quit in a mass exodus after Matthew Richter was unceremoniously fired so the first thing to do is find the staff.
Recruit and oversee contract curators in the disciplines of visual art, film, performance, music and lectures.
Outsource all projects, preferably from outside Seattle, because the board cannot be bothered with the messy details of managing a Creative staff.
Oversee the development and implementation of Consolidated Works’ programming across all disciplines.
This means we have no programming, ...HELP!!!!
Develop viable new programming formats in alignment with Consolidated Works’ mission.
Must like all night raves as a funding source.
Take a lead role in identifying, planning and tracking fund development opportunities.

Work with the Operations Manager to maintain the integrity of operations across the entire facility.
The OM position was posted on Craig's List with a longer job description and a salary of $24,000.00 per year. Be prepared to burn out an OM every six months.
Report directly to the Executive Committee of the Board, in collaboration with Consolidated Works’ Managing Director.
Massage our egos when the rest of Seattle is being so mean!
Operate within financial parameters as advised by the Board and Managing Director.
RAISE MONEY
Help to develop Consolidated Works’ annual budget and development plan.
