Imagine going to St Vincent de Paul, Salvation Army, Goodwill, or even Value Village. Purchase worn out livingroom furnishings and arrange them in a room. Take out a chainsaw and cut them up on video. Reassemble the detritus into a three dimensional collage, project the video. Welcome to the world of Tony Weathers!

The sculpture and video projections are appearing at 1506 Projects through January 9, 2004. Once againg this gallery provides an incubator for new ideas. This solo exhibit is Tony Weathers' first since he showed work at the 2000 5th year BFA Show in the Westlake Studios of Cornish College of the Arts. In four years he has made a conceptual leap into whimsey and the concrete poetry of the Situationalist International.

The images shown do not do the piece justice. You need to experience the sculpture and the video projections together as an ensemble suite. You will also feel very vicariously exhilarated as sofas and tables and overstuffed chairs are sliced, diced, and reassembled into an echo of the early 20th century "Dio-Dadaisten-Diorama"by the "OberDada" Johannes Baader. Make plans this weekend to see the piece. You will be glad you came.
