Our traveling photographer, Steven Michael Vroom, snapped these shots on a train ride from Seattle to Bellingham. Amtrak's Cascades run—which operates between Eugene, OR and Vancouver, BC—offers stunning scenery, not to mention amenities such as a dining car and a café car with viewing windows. The Cascades run utilizes the Spanish-made Talgo train set, a sleek European design combined with tilt technology that allows trains to take turns without slowing down. The Cascades run tops out at 110 mph in rural areas. The Pacific North West Rail Corridor is one of only five high-speed rail corridors in the United States.
